1882 10c Wallace Bros. Merchant Scrip from Statesville, North Carolina.
Wallace Bros. was obviously a family affair, with numerous family members shown as being involved in the business in the 1880 census. The scope of the enterprise was quite unusual, dealing in herbs and other barks, flowers, seeds, mosses, gums, and berries.
The notes have an interesting vignette of Liberty and Plenty and promise to redeem in currency at a ten-percent discount.
This scrip grades Extremely Fine with light stains.
It measures ~ 5.75" x 2.75".
