1873 $10 The South Carolina Railroad Company "Fare Ticket" note from Charleston, SC.

This railroad issued these colorful and attractive "Fare Tickets" following the Civil War as a way of getting around prohibitions against circulating privately issued paper money. 

This example was good for two passengers and 125 miles, but also circulated as $10. 

This note features a detailed Vignette of Industry and Commerce seated at the center. Printed with nice brown borders and tint.

This note grades Very Fine with punch cancellations and some tiny pinholes.

It measures ~ 7" x 3".
