1863 Cr.28 10c The State of Florida note from Tallahassee, FL.

This attractive municipal scrip from the American Civil War is printed in three different inks; black, red, and blue! 

Fractional paper currency like this note were printed out of necessity due to the coin shortage caused by the War. During the Civil War, coinage, especially silver and gold, became so valuable that most people started hoarding them. These stashes became so large that coins were almost completely wiped out. In order to continue every day business without metal coins, many merchants, private banks, and the Government issued fractional paper currency.

This note grades About Uncirculated with ink burn and a couple mounting spots on the reverse. 

It measures ~ 4.5" x 2.5".
