1862 $2 G.W. Holt Merchant Scrip from New Orleans, Louisiana.
This Civil War era scrip is printed with the popular "Female Riding Deer" Vignette that depicts the Roman Goddess, Diana riding a deer.
Holt ran a coffee shop in New Orleans. New Orleans newspaper articles have mentioned Holt being brought into court for failing to redeem notes after they were presented. Apparently he issued more than he could redeem.
This note grades Fine with pinholes and a small hole.
It measures ~ 6" x 2.75".
