1861 $2 The Bank of the State of South Carolina note.

This attractive note features a Vignette of The State House at the center. On the lower left is a portrait of Franklin H. Elmore, and on the right is Calhoun. Elmore was the president of the bank from 1840-1850. He also served in Congress from 1837-1839. After the death of Calhoun, Elmore filled the vacancy in the Senate in 1850 until his own death later that year. 

This note grades a nice Very Fine with 6 wheel-cut cancellations and some small pinholes. 

It measures ~ 7.5" x 3".
