1860's Cr.21A $20 The State of Missouri "Missouri Defence Bond" Note from Jefferson City, MO.
This series of notes were printed by Keatine & Ball presumably after the earlier printers had been overrun by Union forces. Unlike the first series, these notes gave no indication that interest was being paid but were clearly identified as being "Missouri Defence Bonds."
This note features a Vignette of Liberty seated with a pole and liberty cap next to a shield depicting a cotton plant at the top left with factories and a bridge in the distance. A small steamboat is printed above "State of Missouri" and a fancy "TWENTY" protector is printed in red!
This note grades Choice About Uncirculated.
It measures ~ 7.25" x 3.25".
