1857 $2 The Mount Vernon Bank note from Providence, Rhode Island.
This bank operated from 1823 until it failed in 1859. It started in Foster but moved to Providence in 1854.
This note features a detailed Vignette of two frontiersmen beside a shield with a cow on it. On the left panel is an oval Vignette of Liberty. On the bottom right is a cameo head wearing a helmet topped with a dragon. A bold "TWO" protector is printed in red!
This note grades Fine / Very Fine with some small pinholes and a small tear on the top edge.
