This bank operated from 1841 to 1852. It started in St. Mary's but moved to Columbus around 1842. This bank also issued bills of exchange that resembled bank notes payable at the office of John G. Winter in New York. The bank suspended specie payments in 1852 with $350,000 outstanding.
Commerce and Plenty are seated by a busy wharf above the bank title. A wagon full of bales is being pulled by oxen on the left and a large, ornate "5" is on the right. A bold "FIVE" protector is in red below.
