1844 $1 Mississippi Marine and Fire Insurance Co - Sinipee WISCONSIN Note AU

$129.00

1844 $1 The Mississippi Marine and Fire Insurance Company note from Sinipee, Wisconsin.

This company was a fraudulent organization existing only to put notes into circulation. The strategy was to confuse these notes with notes from the Wisconsin Marine and Fire Insurance Co, one of the strongest and safest banks in the Midwest at the time.

This note is even "signed" by "G Smith" who was the founder of the Wisconsin Marine and Fire Insurance Co. Regardless, it's still a beautiful printing from the early/mid 1800's with a detailed harbor Vignette above the title.

This note grades About Uncirculated with a nick / crinkle on the top edge.

It measures ~ 7.25" x 3".
