1839 $10 The Mississippi Union Bank note from Jackson, MS.
This bank operated from 1837 until it failed in 1840 for failing to open branches which was required by its charter.
This note features a Vignette of bales being loaded onto a wagon above the title. On the left is America and on the right is a cotton boll plant Vignette with "10" and "TEN" blocks in the corners.
This note was converted to a "post note" by stamping "Twelve Months" at the top and stamping the 5% interest language below the date-line.
This note grades Fine+ with pinholes and a few hinges on the reverse.
It measures ~ 7" x 3".
