1800's $20 Exchange Office note from Holly Springs, Mississippi.
This attractive note was printed in blue before the Civil War began. During the Civil War, State notes from Louisiana were printed on the reverse of unused sheets. This example was saved by someone who decided to cut the pre-war notes instead of the State of Louisiana notes on the back.
These notes came as both "Holly Springs" and "Holley Springs".
This note grades Extremely Fine with a tiny ink burn spot on the top left, a nick on the top right and a small tear on the right edge.
It measures ~ 7.25" x 2.75".
